I recently got the opportunity to do a session at Chris Lord Alge’s legendary MIX LA,
working with producer/engineer Keith Armstrong.

From what I understand, Mix LA was owned by Death Row Records during it’s hey-day in the 90’s, and it was here that 2Pac, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg recorded many of the songs that ended up defining the genre. Prior to that it was Can-Am Studio’s, which was where some parts of Guns & Rose’s ‘Apetite for Destruction’ were recorded, as well as many more legendary records, although information on the subject is very hard to find.

Currently it’s owned by Chris Lord Alge, who was among many other things responsible for Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ .

I got asked by Beta Wolf’s Grant Arnow to track some stuff for his side project called ‘The Missionary Men’.
It’s pretty cool Folky/Americana/Country-esque stuff, very mellow with a great retro vibe.
All in all I had a great experience and we managed to get some amazing guitar sounds.
